Other Significant Tasks
- Draft Model Police Act to replace Model Police Act, 2006 under process.
- A document titled "Ready Reckoner on Provisions of Laws for Tackling Human Trafficking
(Size: loading...)" was prepared by NPM Division in consultation with Sh. P.M. Nair, IPS (Retd.) and circulated to all States/UTs, CAPFs, MHA, MoWCD, NCPCR & NCW in April, 2025. - "Guidelines to Ensure Discipline on use of Social Media by Government Employees” (Size: loading...) were prepared by NPM Division in compliance of Recommendation No. 29 of DGsP/ IGsP Conference 2023, and submitted to IB & MHA and circulated to DGsP/IGsP of all States/UTs in Nov, 2024.
- A paper on “Problems and Compulsions Faced by Police regarding Remand Extensions and Trials along with solutions thereof” was prepared by NPM Division in compliance of Recommendation no. 53 of DGsP/ IGsP Conference 2023, and submitted to IB and MHA in Nov, 2024.
- A document titled “Contingency Plans for Emergencies at Major Railway Stations” was prepared in response to Recommendation no. 56 of DGsP/ IGsP Conference 2023, and submitted to IB and MHA in Nov, 2024.
- A draft “Manual on Effective Communications for Police Personnel with the Media” was prepared by NPM Division in compliance with order of Hon'ble Supreme Court order dated 13.09.2023 in C.A. No.1255, 1256, 1367 of 1999 and shared with MHA as “Guidelines on Media Briefing by Police Personnel” in July, 2024.
- A Model FIR for the registration of cases u/s 52 of NDPS Act was prepared by NPM Division, in compliance with instructions in the 242nd Report of the Departmental Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs and submitted to MHA. Four other documents were also prepared and shared with MHA in May, 2024 and with NCB and States/UTs in Nov, 2024. Documents are as follows:

- Standard Operating Procedure (Size: loading...)to deal with the cases registered under NDPS Act, 1985
- Flow chart (Size: loading...) of Procedures to be followed in NDPS Cases
- Guidelines (Size: loading...) for Investigating Officer to be used in drafting FIR and during investigation of the case and
- "Template format (Size: loading...) for handing over of NDPS cases by non-empowered agencies under section 52/53 of the NDPS Act to the empowered agencies”.
- Internal initiatives to streamline the work of the Division and facilitate stakeholders:-

- The “BPR&D Trophy for Innovation in Policing” for IPS Probationers was created by NPM Division in November, 2023 and handed over to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad. This Trophy is awarded annually during the Passing out Parade of IPS Probationers.
- BPR&D Documentary 2023 was made by this Division in September, 2023 to showcase the work of the Bureau.
- A proposal on “Recommendations for benefits to Next of Kin of Police Martyrs” was submitted to MHA in September, 2023.
- A Study Report on “Tourist Police Scheme” was prepared in compliance with directions of MHA and shared with MHA and Ministry of Tourism in December, 2020.
